Terms
Terms of Use
Effective 2 November 2026.
These terms cover the Open Desktop Agent application, the Chrome bridge extension and this policy site. By using them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
1. What this is
Open Desktop Agent is an open-source desktop automation tool. It can run commands, edit files, control a browser, control desktop apps and Android emulators, connect to model providers and connectors, and perform other actions you ask it to perform. It is a tool, not a professional adviser.
2. License
The source code is available under the MIT license in the project repository. That license governs your use, modification and distribution of the source. Binary builds may include third-party components under their own licenses; see the notices included with the release. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the MIT license.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use the software only on systems, accounts, files and websites you are authorized to access.
- Do not use it to violate law, infringe rights, bypass access controls, distribute malware, harass, or collect data without consent.
- Review actions and approvals before granting access. You remain responsible for commands, purchases, messages, uploads and changes made on your behalf.
- Keep your device, OS account, model-provider keys and Chrome profile secure. Do not share credentials with the agent or with other people.
- Back up important files. The agent can modify or delete files when you ask it to.
4. Third-party services
The app can connect to model providers, Google Drive, MCP connectors, OAuth providers and a phone relay you deploy. Those services have their own terms, privacy policies and fees. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, outputs or data handling. You are responsible for the accounts and credentials you configure.
5. Chrome bridge
The Chrome bridge extension is provided as part of the product. It is limited to the Agent tabs group and is intended for the local Open Desktop Agent app. Do not use it to control other people’s browsers or data. Chrome Web Store terms and Chrome’s policies also apply to the extension.
6. No warranty
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or suitable for your use case. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or business, arising from or related to your use of the software, even if advised of the possibility. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the software, which may be zero. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes and termination
We may change, suspend or discontinue the project or these terms. Updated terms take effect when posted at this URL with a new effective date. You may stop using the software at any time and delete your data using the deletion steps.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms: open a non-sensitive issue at github.com/beniaminp/desktop-agent/issues or contact the maintainer through github.com/beniaminp. Security reports go through the security process.
