Chrome bridge
Your Chrome, one approved tab group.
Open Desktop Agent can use your own signed-in Chrome profile for tasks that need it. The Chrome bridge extension creates one blue Agent tabs group and lets the local app read and control only the tabs in that group.

What the extension can do
- Create a new tab in the Agent tabs group and navigate it to an
http(s)URL. - Read the page’s accessibility tree, DOM structure, text and screenshots for the agent.
- Click buttons and links, type into fields, choose options, hover, scroll and press keys.
- Read canvas-based interfaces through screenshots and interact with them using element-level clicks and keyboard input.
- Handle JavaScript dialogs, upload files the user approves and observe downloads.
- Keep working across page navigations, iframes, shadow DOM and cross-origin frames when the browser exposes them to the debugger.
What it cannot do
- Read or control a tab that is not in the Agent tabs group. The native host and the app’s main process both re-check membership.
- Read or type passwords. Password field values are withheld and password/payment actions require approval.
- Read your browsing history, cookies, autofill data or downloads outside the group.
- Open a listening port, use remote debugging, load remote code or contact a server. It uses Chrome native messaging to the local app and a local Unix socket.
- Silence Chrome’s debugging infobar. Pause in the extension popup detaches the debugger immediately.

- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- In Open Desktop Agent, open Settings → Chrome, enable the bridge and click Start pairing.
- Enter the app’s pairing code in the extension popup.
- Type the confirmation code shown by the extension back into the app.
The native host manifest allowlists the extension’s exact id. Disconnecting in the popup, pausing, or revoking pairing in the app stops control. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage.
